A closer look at the times of the nations
Using archaeological material and historical documents, the author shows that Jerusalem was not conquered and destroyed by the Babylonians, as the Watchtower Society claims, in 607 BCE, but in 587 BCE. This fact has considerable effects on one of the special teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, namely that the "times of the nations", which Jesus once mentioned in connection with the question of his return, should begin in 607 BC, last 2520 years and end in 1914 CE. In 1914 Jesus Christ returned invisibly, and a few years later he found the Jehovah's Witnesses (then: Bible Students) to be the only religious community to be faithful and chose them as his “slave”, to whom he entrusted all his earthly concerns. It is now exciting to see how the author dismantles one argument after another of the Jehovah's Witnesses, and with the calculation of time, all of their claims, step by step. In this way he takes not only their teaching, but also their own supposed role in God's plan of salvation ad absurdum. But because the year 607 forms an essential foundation of its doctrine, the Watchtower Society must hold fast to it under all circumstances and defend it with claws and teeth.
